Benefit Roller Lash | Review

Hello lovelies,

How are you all doing today? I have been loving this mascara for a while now so I decided to write a review to tell you all about it.

I first tried this benefit mascara when I went away for the weekend. I had forgotten to pack a makeup bag! I thought I’d take a stroll down to boots and see what i could pick up. I found this lovely little gift set that included a miniature brow gel, primer and the roller lash mascara. Prior to this I had never purchased any products from benefit because to be honest i didn’t know if the product would be with the money.

The Packaging

Lets start of with the packaging, I received this full size version for christmas. This mascara came in a lovely box. I love the design of roller lash, my favourite colour is pink and i think the black works really well with it. The handle of the wand has a slight rubbery texture which makes it easier to undo and grip whilst using it (especially if you have just applied hand cream) As you can see it also has a sort of lattice design to the handle, i think the design and the feel of this product is really good quality.

The Wand

At first I wasn’t sure about this style of wand because i don’t always get on well with plastic bristles but I wanted to give it a try. I ended up being pleasantly surprised, with the mascaras I have tried before that have had plastic bristles I found that it made my lashes clump together which I’m not really a fan of. Instead it made my lashes look really fluffy and separated them well. This wand has a small curve in it which helps to reach all of the lashes .

Colour

The colour I chose was black, I mostly like to wear black mascara as have quite light eyelashes so I find I need as dark a colour as I can get to really bring out my lashes. This mascara adds a lot of colour to the lashes and helps to accentuate them! I love how dark this mascara makes my lashes.

Overall Performance

To summarise I really love this mascara, as it has a curved wand it help to give your lashes that extra curl that I definitely need. It also helps to reach all of the little lashes in between to give the best effect and to give the lashes volume. I think the packaging is lovely and I think the colour scheme is great. After receiving this as a gift for Christmas when it runs out I definitely do think I’ll be repurchasing it even thought it is the most expensive mascara I have owned at £20 I do think it is worth the price tag.

Here are the before and after photos!

A Little Lush Haul

Hello lovelies,

How are you doing today? I hope you’ve had a fab weekend. Today I thought I would do something i haven’t done before on my blog, a lush haul!

Read on to find out what I purchased and my thoughts on them.

I really love Southampton for shopping as there is such a massive variety of places to go. The majority of shopping I did today was in the west queue shopping centre, last time I went to Southampton to shop was a few years ago and i never remembered there being a lush store there, so when I  arrived and saw it I was very happy.

I have never actually done a lush haul on my blog before so this is a first! As the nearest lush shop is about an hour away from me I always have to make the most of it when I get the rare chance! Lush is one of my favourite shops, I know some people can’t stomach the smell, and i’ll admit it is quite overpowering and you definitely smell it before you see it! I really enjoy looking round and getting to test out and smell all of the different products.

As it’s getting close to easter now Lush always bring out special holiday products, there were a few I hadn’t seen before such as cream egg and  easter bunny sugar scrub. I really love that they bring out new and different products for holidays. I was a little bit disappointed that quite a few of these products where glittery, the reason why i find it a little but harder to shop for new products to try out is that I’m not a bit fan of the bath bombs or bubble bars that have glitter within them, i get that it appeals to some people, but having tried them out before i just don’t like getting out of the bath looking like a glitter monster! Instead I hunt for new products that are glitter free.

I was able to pick up a couple of things that a get almost every time I step into lush and I was also able to find a couple of new things that i hadn’t seen or tried before so I am really excited to give you all my opinions on them once i have tried them out. Let’s get on with the haul!

Creamy Candy Bubble Bar

The first item I found was the Think Pink bubble bar, for me this is a staple for my baths. I know some find the snow fairy scent overwhelming but i love it, to me it’s a really sweet sugary scent and I love the colour its turns the bath water to as its a bright pink! What I love about bubble bars is that you can get so many uses out of them, I break off a little pice each time I want to spice up my bath water and overall I think I can get around 6 or 7 baths out of this one bubble bar. With that being said i think it’s definitely worth the money at £3.50 As it has coco butter in it I find it helps to moisturise and soften my skin.

Main ingredients

  • Almond oil

Moisturising and conditioning

  • Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter

Moisturising and softening

  • Vanilla Absolute

Sweet and soothing

Butterball Bath Bomb

The next product I picked up is another one of my all time favourites, Butterball. This little bath bomb is just a classic from lush and I think pretty much all people will like the scent this one has, as its made with cocoa butter it smells incredible and leaves your skin feeling so smooth and moisturised. Every time I go into lush I have to pick one of these up, I think they are a great bath bomb and a very reasonable price at £2.95. I love the simplicity of this bath bomb when you go into lush you are bombarded with all of the different colours of the rainbow and more, so I think it’s really nice to have some products that aren’t as bold for people who are maybe new to lush or just prefer something a little less wild. I find the scent really relaxing and it helps me to sleep at night after having my bath. Again if I really wanted to save it I sometimes break this bath bomb in half so I can get two uses out of it as i can’t get to a lush store as easily as others.

Main ingredients

  • Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter

Moisturising and softening

  • Ylang Ylang Oil

Sweet and heady

Cocoa Sugar Scrub

This item was part of the easter range, which I thought I would have a give at least one product a go from. There were two different type of this product one was a white bunny which had more of a coconut vibe and this one which was more chocolatey. As i have a lot of products already and are coconut scented I thought I would go for the cocoa bunny, this one smelt heavenly. They texture of this is quite coarse as it contains granulated sugar so I imagine it is going to be lovely to exfoliate your skins with in the shower and it will make you smell amazing! This product was pretty reasonably price a £4.95 I think that I will be able to get quite a lot of uses out of this sugar scrub.

Main ingredients

  • Cocoa Powder

Softening, uplifting and antioxidant

  • Vanilla Absolute

Sweet and soothing

  • Cocoa absolute

Chocoaltely and uplifting

  • Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter

Gritty Politti Naked Cleansing Balm

The last thing I picked up from lush today was this lovely facial cleanser, I don’t use many products on my face as i do have rather sensitive skin but I thought this sounded really lovely and wanted to give it a try. I have used this product for the first time tonight, I love the way it feels on my skin when i was rubbing it in, it also has very tiny pieces of coconut shell within it which gently exfoliated my skin. I love the smell of this product and i only us very small amount as it just melted into my hands. It removed my makeup really well, it even removed my mascara without much trouble. The one thing I will say is currently my cheeks are very red, I am not sure if this is due to the cleanser or not as my skin is quite sensitive it may just be that it needs a while to settle down. I would love to write a full review on this product when i have tested it out properly. I think if this product works for me i will definitely buy it again as it was £4.95 so i think it is good value for what you get in my opinion.

Main Ingredients

  • Sandalwood

Warm and woody

  • Rose wood oil

Balancing mind and skin

  • Ground coconut shell

Gentle exfoliant

  • Benzoin Resinoid

Soothing and protective

And thats the end of my haul, it was only a little one today. I hope you enjoyed reading, if you did let me know by leaving a like!

I’d love it if you could let me know what your favourite lush products are in the comments, or what would you like to try out!

Thanks for reading 🙂

Winter shopping haul

Hello lovelies,

Today I thought I’d show you a little haul as I’ve been on a couple of shopping trips recently. Some of these items I found in the black Friday sale so I got them for a great price! This winter i wanted to try getting out of my comfort zone with my clothing and go for more bold items which I think I’ve managed to start.

Yellow Mustard Sweater

I was having a look around h&m and this lovely sweater caught my eye, it’s very bold and not something I would usually go for. I decided to try it on and loved it! It’s an oversized fit on the arms and body but slightly cropped as well. I love the kind of baseball sweater vibe you get from it, I definitely think its going to brighten up some of my winter looks!

I think it will look great with a pair of dark navy or black skinny jeans. Another one of my favourite things about this sweater is the zip along the front, I’ve seen this detail in a lots of pieces of clothing recently as its come back into fashion. I think it really adds to the item and completes it.

Glitter Mesh Top

The next thing I purchased from H&M was this glittery mesh top, the photo really doesn’t do this top justice. I have been wanting one of these tops for a long time but never felt I’d be confident enough to wear one. When I saw this one I tried it on and thought it looked really nice, I would pair it with a bralette underneath or maybe a lacy vest top.

It has a round neckline and is a boxy fit so will go well with layering underneath, it could be tucked into jeans or a skirt or left out or tied in a knot. I think this top would be lovely to wear on a christmasy night out.

Leopard Print Skirt

This skirt has to be one of my favourite purchases from this haul, I absolutely love it. As soon as I saw it I picked one up and tried it on, I love the fit of it, it’s quite high-waisted and the zip detail on the front is lovely and very similar to the sweater.

The colour was the what drew me to this item I thought the red was beautiful and the leopard print pattern went with it so well. Animal print is really in fashion right now  as you all have probably seen. This skirt is a bit on the short side which is surprising as generally skirts are too long on me (being 5,1) haha but I think it’s passable when wearing black tights and a jumper.

Glittery Crop Top

This top is part of the Stacey Solomon range in Primark, as I’m trying to be more out there with my clothing I tried it on I adored it. I love all of the different rainbow colours that its covered in and the glittery finish makes it great for this time of the year.

I thought that by looking at the top when I tried it on it was going to feel scratchy because of the material, but surprisingly it didn’t to my delight so I decided to buy it. I have worn this top with a pair of black jeans and heeled boots, it helps make any outfit stand out as its so bright.

Pink Checked Skirt

The next shop i went to is Primark, they have so many lovely items in there at the moment! When i saw this skirt I fell I love with it instantly, I’ve worn it so much already.  In the winter it’s easy for me to just chuck on a pair of jeans, but I wanted to make the effort to try out different things this year so I’ve bought quite a few skirts this being one of my favourites that i hope to wear a lot over the festive season.

I love the material of this skirt its quite think and chunky which is perfect for the colder weather. I’ve been wearing this skirt with boots a pair of tights and a roll neck jumper. The built-in belt is a great addition to this item which I think adds to the vintage look they were going for with this skirt.

DSCN1217

Roll Neck Top

I have been looking for a top like this everywhere but couldn’t find the perfect one. I love this style of top and think that the roll neck is perfect for cold weather as you don’t have to wear a scarf to keep warm. The material of this top isn’t too thick which is what I liked as I thought could wear it underneath pinafore dresses and layer up with cardigans or coats.

This top is ribbed which I also thought made it different to the other tops I had seen that were similar, I think the ribbed texture adds something to the item and makes it look less plain. I love the roll neck on it, there’s not too much material and it’s not too tight around my neck like others I had tried.  I found a lot of similar tops but didn’t think the price of them was worth it, this top is definitely worth the price tag.

DSCN1207

White Roll Neck Jumper

I found this jumper in Primark and thought it looked stunning, I’ve never owned a white jumper before but after trying it on I had to buy it. This particular jumper is a little oversized which I love as its makes it even cosier. It loo
ks really lovely with everything I’ve paired it with so far (dark blue jeans, the pink checked skirt). As it is oversized it looks really great tucked in at the front and left out at the back.

As it’s got a roll neck its really warm and snug, it’s very loose fitted around the neck which is a bonus. The material is chenille, and is in lots of shops at the moment it has such a soft feel and is so comfortable. This jumper really brightens up my outfit and stands out, I’m really glad I picked it up and will be wearing it a lot throughout the winter.
